Good morning Mr. lybrate-user. Psoriasis is one of those skin conditions that at present, has no cure. Medications given are used to bring it under control when it pops up and to prevent it from getting worse if starts to spread over the body. Patients can experience lesion free intervals that can last years. Once it is brought under control using the appropriate medication, maintenance treatment using creams, lotions etc is usually advised. You need to consult a qualified dermatologist to treat your condition and also mention your treatment history (what ever medications were prescribed). Schedule regular follow ups so any resurgence can be caught earlier than usual ensuring better treatment outcome. In the meantime, try not to take undue stress over your condition and everyday matters as stress can exacerbate your condition. Increase your intake of food sources rich in omega- 3 fatty acids, as it has shown to be beneficial in people with psoriasis.

Psoriasis is a disease with no permanent cure. We can control it. Regular use of medicines is most important. On improvement, you should not discontinue suddenly. Meet with dermatologist regularly even on complete improvement. He will reduce dose gradually depending on your condition and after a variable period drug should be stop. On sudden stopage of drug psoriasis will again appear with more severely.
