I?m 40 years old female with history of diabetes hypo thyroidism take janumet rx, xigduo, glynexa for diabetes thyroxine, b12 tablets all reports are under control my only concern is I have serious hair loss problem since couple of years tried topical applications minoxidil for 3 years but in vain I consulted dermatologist but of no use prescribed every time minoxidil. Please help with some good medication internally only as I don?t intend to use lotions shampoos anymore as its only aggravating the scalp problem. Please help and advise thank you need.

Actually one of the major cause of diffuse excessive hair loss is hypothyroidism. You already suffer from this condition. First of all you must be normalize the thyroxin level by medication. Also investigate for haemoglobin level on treatment part most of the preparation are solution /lotion/ shampoo that why for treatment part mainly topical and because we need localized action only on scalp. Since diabetes and hypothyroidism are the common causes of diffuse hair loss, there should be rigid control of diabetes and hypothyroidism. Minoxidil would be helpful if the cause of your hair fall is (fphl. As there are very few oral medications (adjuvants) available for hair loss, we are left with only topical therapy (in form of shampo and lotion. Add biotin rich multivitamins and multiminerals like tab follihair/ tab biotee forte etc. Be under regular follow up with the dermatolgist. Thanks.

For hair loss you always need few supplements along with good medicated oil and shampoo as well. But as if you are diabetic and hypo thyroid. We need few blood tests first then can start treatment. Without seeing the blood test reports it would be a futile exercise to do.
