Our 28 month daughter is passing green coloured stool from last 2 days. Apart from the colour the stool is normal. She is quite healthy and active and eats fruits and normal food regularly. A doctor prescribed bevon suspension 5 ml twice a day. Is this fine. Also, is there a need to consult a doctor. Hesitant in the current situation.

When babies are breastfeeding, they can have green stools if the mother eats green leafy vegetables. When the childis on solid foods, green baby foods (like pureed peas or spinach) can also colour their stools. Green stools in this scenario is nothing to worry about. Bevon syp is being given in slightly high dosage. You can reduce it to 2.5 ml daily.

Dear lybrate-user, it's fairly common for your child to have green stool at some point. It's almost always harmless. It often just means that the stool passed through the intestines more quickly so that all of the normal bile (which is green) did not have time to be absorbed back into the body. For any other queries you can privately chat with me. Thank you.
