I am male 20 year old, currently having hairloss and hair thinning for 6 months around 15 hairs per day, but on 1 aug I visited dermatologist she said androgenic alopecia and given me chekfall topical minoxidil 5% solution, oral 1 mg finasteride and multivitamin. I started using the medicine. Then my rate of hairloss increased around 30 hairs per time I apply solution that means 60-70 hairs daily and it continued for 25 days, which degraded my density even more, then afterwards my hairloss decreased to again 20 hairs per day. I have been using these medication for 1 month 10 days, should I continue for this month or should visit my dermatologist? As she told me to visit after 2 month.

Minoxidil initially increase hair loss for 1-2 month. Your initial phase is completed as you said now hair fall is decreasing. So you should continue. Remember 1 thing, maximum effect will appear on 6-12 months for minoxidil and atleast 1 year for finasteride.

Hello. Yes you should continue the medications as prescribed by the dermatolgist. When you use minoxidil it initially causes more hair fall (it is also a sign that minoxidil has started its action). But you wil see noticible hair growth after 3 months of its use. Be under regular follow up. Thanks.

Must visit your doctor. You may require something better than minoxidil and few blood tests to move further with treatment. Finastride I don’t recommend at all. As lot of serious side effect profile.
