I am 22 year old and diagnosed for lip vitiligo. The medicine (melgain lotion) was prescribed for 3 months but due to lighten I am unable to go. My query is can I continue with this lotion or will there be side effect post prescribed period. My vitiligo patch is smaller than a pea on the lower lip and pink in colour.

Yes you can apply melgain lotion (if prescribed by a dermatolgist after examination) but you must use a sunscreen when outdoors. Irritation, burning sensation at the site of contact are the common side effects of this drugs. But if the lesion is small then better to start treatment with topical tacrolimus for mucosal areas like lips. Be under regular monthly follow up or as required. Thanks.
