Good day sir my baby is 3 years old always had problem of tonsillitis every month with fever took her to many doctors. They give her antibiotic like cefrine cetil and levo cetrizine. But again this happens she can not eat on liquid diet only. She will have yellow white dots like in her mouth near throat when we see it from flashlight. please help sir.

Please record her growth in weight and height regularly every month. If she's losing weight or not gaining in at least 3-4 months, then she may need a ent opinion. If her weight gain is adequate, say about 100-200 gm every month, then it's ok to wait and treat acute episodes with antibiotics and symptomatic meds. Give her high protein diet when she is symptom free. Plenty of warm liquids as well.

Tonsillitis is a common problem in children if that is occuring frequently (>7 times/year, >10episodes in two years) then surgery is required, else medical management with antibiotics and decongestants is sufficient. Tonsils gets enlarged when exposed to infection, tonsils are the first barrier. This is normally enlarged in all the children till 6-8 years but only few will have recurrent infection. If high spiking fever due to recurrent tonsillitis or enlarged tonsils blocking throat passage, then tonsils must be removed. Give frequently warm water For every fever, do not give antibiotics. If the child is having the symptoms often then you nd to go for surgery else there might be complications. Antibiotics and other medication will reduce the symptoms but again might after a month or two you will come with the same complian. Preventive measures: maintain oral hygeine by asking her to gargle after every meal ,no to ice cream and freezed food, avoid cold as far as possible.
