Hello doctor my father is 65 year old and he undergone appendicitis operation in november 2018 ,till then h was doing some small physical exercises which helped him to sleep and his bowel movement was proper. Layer after tbr operation he scared to perform same exercise and he scared to do this physical exercises. So nowadays. He ia not getting sleep even after taking restyl medicine sometimes, but sometime he s sleeping after taking medicine and only with cremaffin plus he s able to pass the stools. Could you please help. Me on this or a any treatment. Am worried.

Sleep is related to tiredness & exhaution. Better to counsel him for lifestyle modification rather than going on medications. Same goes for constipation too, eat high fibre diet laxatives are not needed. Problem is not related to appendix operation but he's scared of doing exercises so psychiatric counselling is required at the most. Your problem will be solved. Don't jump on medications they are for refractory cases.

Hi. To address the problem, we have to correct the cause. So, if your doctor advices your father to stand up and walk, then do that. If he is not confident enough, a walking stick may be halpful. He might improve with psychological counseling also. Thanks.
