Need to undergo insulin resistance checkup. And can be given DPP4 agents and other newer OHA drugs for reducing dose of insulin. I will also recommend Insulin Pump therapy(costlier instruments).

Dear Mr. lybrate-user, first of all let me tell you that I can not and shouldn't advise you any new treatment on this forum. But I will give you broad recommendations 1.you are overweight. Try to lose weight. If you are taking sugars, stop sugars strictly. Reduce carbs (rice / bread / chapati / biscuits). Follow regular exercise plan. 2. When you reduce your weight, your insulin requirements will go down. However you can not stop insulin completely. 3.ask your doctor to consider using insulin sensitizers 4. Ask your doctor to consider basal bolus therapy

Dear Mr. lybrate-user, I note that for a height of 158 cm (5'2") your weight of 82 kg is too much. The ideal weight for your height would be 55-60 kg. If you go on a very strict 1500 calorie diabetic diet and walk for 5-6 km per day your weight will start coming down and along with this your insulin requirements will come down professor m s seshadri.
