Sir my mother is a kidney donor. She had donated kidney 5.5 month before. Her creatinine is 1.2 and range of report is between 0.6 to 1.2 and all other parameters are normal. She is a patient of hypothyroidism also and using 50 mg thyroxine tablet also. She is suffering from shoulder pain and throat pain from 15 days. Physician advised him pain killer nicip-mr and gastroresistant capsule omeprazole for 10 days in morning and evening. Does these medicine effect her kidney function? Her lft, urine-re, glucose, cholesterol, cbc all are normal. Her height is 5.4 feet and weight 74 kg. She had not any history of illness. Sir advice me is these nsaid medicine are safe for him. Does we require to perform kidney function test after 10 days again. Also tell me is it safe to take pain killer in future also.

Patient with single kidney (or after donation) are at slight increased risk of kidney damaging effects like pain killers. One or two tablets are not so dangerous but long term use is risky. Crocin tablets are less risky than others, and omeprazole is ok. Other things which can be done is warm saline gargles and local volini gel or spray for pain relief.
