Hello. I have question to gynecologist and newborn doctor. I am currently 37 weeks pregnant. Have a planned c section surgery on 8th march. (38.4 week). Today the doctor found neonatal gbs infection inside my vagina. I would like to know more about this infection and how can it effect the baby if I would start to have contractions between this week before planned c section. What are risks for my baby? Tge doctors did not treat the infection or did anything today .thry just let me go home. Did they do the right thing? Please help me coz I do not know if my doctor is doing the right thing.

Most pregnant women who carry group b streptococcus (gbs) bacteria have healthy babies. But there's a small risk that gbs can pass to the baby during childbirth. How did gynec find this infection, was test done? Only examining doctor can decide about treatment. Depending on why lscs is to be done it can be done anytime if pains start.
