My 14 months old baby boy is having diarrhea for 3 days. He is passing watery stool 10 times a day. We consulted our pediatrician. He gave taxim o twice for five days, econorm sachet twice daily, nexpro sachet, z &d 20 and ors. We are giving our baby as doctor prescribed. But still his diarrhea has not subsided. Not only that he has passed whitish stool for last 5 to 6 times. We again consulted our doctor but he told not to worry and it will take time. My question is are we in the right path or we have to consult another doctor?

Thanks for sharing the information I want to know little bit more. How many days now the diarrhea has been persisted. Antibiotic (taxim o) is not preferred in acute diarrhea. Main aim is to prevent dehydration. Continue with zinc drops, econorm sachet. Please add ors also. I want to also inform you that diarrhea takes 4-5 days sometimes 7 days to completely stop. I can understand your concer but we need to maintain hydration of baby by providing adequate liquids in form of coconut water, ors, buttermilk. No to any carbonated drinks or sugar juice or fruit juice. Maintain energy by giving food whatever baby likes eg banana, curd rice, lemon with rice. Avoid milk if possible but if baby is only accepting milk then it's fine. As you said it's now come down to 5-6 times it will be fine. If diarrhea persists for more than 14 days then we need to send some tests. For now maintain hydration. Keep check eye on danger signs. 1. If no pee for more than 8 hrs 2. If not taking anything by mouth 3. If very weak and lethargic 4. If stool frequency more than 15 times if any of above then immediately go back to your doctor.
