Hi Gaurav Schizophrenia and cancer are two entirely different conditions. Schizophrenia needs long term treatment and people do maintain well or symptom-free. The chances of survival with schizophrenia are almost same as general population. schizophrenia medications has fewer side effects than anti-cancer medications. If not treated well (poor response) cancer will ultimately lead to early death. there is nothing called stage in schizophrenia. So i insist you to focus on your illness, how can you be better with treatment, rather than thinking about any other's illnesses. Wish you good health!

There are no identified stages and please don't compare with cancer: there is no correlation between the two. The disease is not easily curable without total cooperation but it can be brought under some control and the person can become quite functional by combining medicines and therapy. You may have discovered the schizophrenia only in 2015 but it is likely you had had some symptoms earlier but it was not diagnosed and you may not have presented major symptoms, either. Because it is a psychotic condition you need to be made to relate to reality often by confronting your distortion of the environment. You may be given to delusions, hallucinations and disordered thinking and speech. You may be emotionally unresponsive, suffering from social withdrawal, extreme apathy, and lack of initiative and drive. If you go internal you may strongly relate to your distortions and in fact believe in them to be true. Your cooperation with the rehabilitation and medical intervention is often not as desirable as it should be. In which case someone has to monitor you constantly and enforce some compliance. You must be kept functional to become aware of your surroundings and build on a steady and trusting relationship with at least one member of the community. You can be difficult to handle, and you yourself will not find it easy to comply with therapeutic expectations. With someone strong and firm to back you up, you could be made to follow a tight schedule and do many activities and exercises to prevent yourself from succumbing to this illness.
