Hello doctors, I have an addiction of tobacco, I chew gutkha. I consult my dentist and I am diagnosed with oral sub mucus fibrosis. As per him my dental opg report and complete blood culture reports are absolutely fine. He suggested me to quit chewing gutkha immediately and prescribed me lycopene capsules and kenacort gel. As per him my osmf condition is completely reversible but I have to quit chewing pan masala and gutkha immediately. My question is that is it safe to quit chewing gutkha immediately, someone (my pharmacist) told me that it's risky and harmful to quit gutkha immediately, he suggested me that first reduce then quit it. I know myself that on immediate basis I can quit my habit but with "reduce then quit" approach I will never be able to over come my habit, because it will be continue some times it might get increased depending on situation. Please suggest regarding approach and treatment (lycopene 2 tablets daily for 3 months and kenacort gel) many thanks in advance.
