H pylori infection untreated since 4 months? I had an egd 4 months ago for my chronic indigestion problems. Egd reports says mild esophagitis, moderate gastritis with mucosal polyp and h pylori infection positive. I tried the medications for h pylori prescribed by m y doctor but I couldn't complete the treatment. So I kept taking esomeprazole 40 mg and antacids as needed. I have an appointment tomorrow for h pylori treatment. My question is what is my risk of getting cancer from h pylori? I know I am asking a stupid question but I am really anxious. I am non-drinker, non-smoker and a pure vegetarian. I am only 20 years old. Can someone get cancer in such short span or is it a really long process and I need not worry about it for now?

H.pylori is an established entity for stomach cancer. But no need to worry. All people with h.pylori infection donot get cancer. As in your case since you have got a mucosal polyp, have they sent it for biopsy? The mucosal polyp can be due to prolonged use of pantoprazole or omeprazole. I suggest you to start a quadrple therapy for h.pylori as you have failed to complete initial three drug regimen. Hope this helps. In case of doubts feel free to contact.
