Dear sir, cancer is usually caused by some mutations or change in genes, which is mostly due to some injury by chemicals, pollution, tobacco etc. About 5-7%cancers may be inherited from one generation to other. So there are only few types of cancers that may be inherited so don't worry. Cancer is staged according to size and it's spread. Usually there are four stages, fourth stage is when tumour spread to other organs apart from one they originated from. Cancer may present as lump, ulceration, abnormal bleeding, weight loss, altered bowel habits etc. Depending on the organ effected.
