I got delivered before 9 days its a c-section. I am breastfeeding my baby girl. I got uti and doc prescribed monurol (fosfomycin) sachet.i want to know it is safe to use during breastfeeding.

Fosfomycin is not known to cause any side effects in the baby. However safer alternatives are available such as nitrofurantoin. Stay hydrated- it will helps in getting rid of the infection faster. Take care!

Fosfomycin has been found to be released in breast milk on very small quantities unlikely to be absorbed by the infant. Hence it's safe in breastfeeding.

It is quite unlikely that your baby to have adverse effect. The drug will be bound to the calcium in the milk and the baby will not be affected.
