I am on hrt (rvatone and meprate) for last 1 years due to premature ovarian failure. I stopped medicine 4 months back. So did not get periods. Last month I started meprate twice for 10 days but it has been even 14 days now but I am not having periods. How to start periods now?

Hi, do an ultrasound pelvis for endometrial thickness. You may need to take both oestrogen & progesterone combination drugs.
Ask Free Question
As you have said premature ovarian failure cannot produce adequate amount of oestrogen so there won't be any endometrial tissue inside the uterus which can bring out the period so only using meprate will not give us a period instead which you can check the ultrasound scan for endometrial thickness if it is very thin you can prime it with oestrogen and then give the meprate tablet so that you will get the period out.

You have to wait 7 to 10 days after stopping meprate for periods. Also since you have premature ovarian failure only meprate may not work. You have to take estrogen (evatone) tabs first. Since you are on hrt since one year it's wise to have a check up with your doctor.

You can take combination of estrogen and progesteron cyclically.(novelon) for 3 months with a break of 7 days after 21 tabs. If are a diagnosed case of pof, this would not produce ovulation. You need gonadotropic hormones and hcg for that purpose.

Since you have premature ovarian failure, taking only meprate won't help unlike others who have anovulation. You need to take evatone along with meprate to get your periods.
