Hello, Thanks for the query. Madam, at TSH 5.68 mU/L, you are in sub-clinical hypothyroidism. Usually no treatment is advised at this level. Treatment for hypothyroidism is advocated only when TSH goes above 10 mU/L and in some cases with lower TSH if there are troublesome symptoms related to that condition are present. So I am a bit surprised as to why was the treatment started at that TSH level. Thanks.

Please recheck your tsh. Thyronorm won't cause throat pain and swelling usually. If you're having an enlarged thyroid gland and if it has grown underneath your breastbone it could cause similar symptoms. Please do an ent evaluation and if needed do a ct scan to see your neck and chest.

The pain in the throat is not due to thyronorm tablet.

Dear Ms. lybrate-user, I find that you have only a borderline tsh elevation with normal t3 and t4. I feel that you do not need treatment with thyronorm. If you are overweight go on a strict diet and regular exercise and reduce weight to your ideal body weight (if your height is 160 cm your ideal body weight will be roughly 160-100=60 kg). Recheck your tsh and tpo antibodies after 6 months and we cna then decide
