Hi, I am 35 years old male. I used to get blood in my stool so my doctor suggested colonoscopy. The report showed grade 3 hemorrhoids. I have been taking medicine from past 7 months but I get blood in stool after every 10-15 days and then it continues for a few days. Also there is some flesh that comes out with blood and does not go back in. The medicines that I am taking are: duphalac syrup: 20 ml twice daily. Dobesil 500 mg capsule: three times a day rabekind-dsr capsule: empty stomach I just want to know that is this disease curable by medicine or will I need a surgery?

Hello. There are 4 grades in haemorrhoids. Grade 1 and grade 2 asymptomatic can go for conservative management. Hemorrhoids grade 2 symptomatic and beyond requires surgical intervention. You can undergo conventional haemorrhoidectomy or stapler haemorrhoidopexy. Consult nearest surgeon.

Hi. If your diagnosis is grade 3 haemorrhoid, then you might need barron banding or combination of banding and sclerotherapy. The medicines you are taking seems to be ok and you may continue. I will suggest you to attend a nearby surgeon who is interested for colo rectal diseases for banding or sclerotherapy.

Hello. You are on the right track. Any bleeding with stools should be evaluated and you jave rightly gone for a colonoscopy. Regarding grade 3 piles, conservative management may cause some relief, but usually surgery is needed at some point of time. You continue with dobesil and duphalac for two weeks more. But if bleeding continues then better to get an intervention done. Either a laser hemorrhoidoplasty, or a stapled hemorrhoidopexy or a conventional hemorrhoidectomy. Consult a good proctologist or a general surgeon in your area. Regards.
