I have a swelling lump behind the left ear. One year back I got left ear infection and some reddish fluid came out from my left ear. I consulted ent. He examined my ear and remove the ear wax from my ear. He prescribed some medicine but I didn't use complete course. 5 months later again I got ear pain and blocked. Again I consulted ent he examined and said you have mastoid infection happen to the left ear and the ear contains fungal. He cleans my ear, he told do not clean the ear with water while bathing prescribed some antibiotics this time I used the complete course. But after few days I noticed a swelling lump behind my ear. It's size almost very little 1 cm. Some times it may pain while moving or rotating my head. If I put any pressure on my neck it is paining. Ent doctor told me its a lymph node it takes some time to normal. But every time i'm checking it with my fingers and thinking, is it okay or not.

Hello lybrate-user, as you said you had a mastoid infection, so formation of lymph node because of them only, a lymph node, or lymph gland, is a kidney-shaped organ of the lymphatic system, and the adaptive immune system. They are major sites of lymphocytes that include b and t cells. Lymph nodes are important for the proper functioning of the immune system, acting as filters for foreign particles. When inflamed or enlarged, lymph nodes can be firm or tender. If it becomes tender, then infection or chances of swelling was there if not then no need to worry. But if you has pain while neck movement then I suggest examination of whole ear with endoscopic examination asked to your ent doctor for that.
