Hello doctor, I am 26 years old unmarried girl. I have pcod problem. Before I had got periods in 2-3 months interval. Doctor prescribed me oral contraceptives that I had taken for 5-6 months. During the time of taking medicine all is going okay. After that I had gone through the same problems. This problem had been staying with me 2-3 years. But now I have a frequent and heavy bleeding. Periods comes in 10 days and stays for 15-20 days. There are 3-5 days gap and again a new cycle. I am taking regestrone twice a day for 21 days in a month. Is it safe to take regestrone for a long time? Is it safe to take in every months? Is there any permanent solution to get rid of pcos problem? I am really frustrated. Need a help.

Pcod has no permanent cure but it can be controlled adequately to cause no problems. If you are overweight for your height, reduce it with healthy lifestyle and diet. Start ovabless tablets twice daily after food. Regesterone has minimal side effects like oily skin and acne but as it is not helping right now, I would suggest taking krimson 35 for 3 cycles.

Don't get frustrated. There are many treatments to make you comfortable. I don't advise you to continue with hormones for long periods, as you are a very young girl. Instead you can start incyst- m500 one daily for a month. Before stopping it, contact me through lybra+e, for further non hormonal treatment. This advice comes from a father too.
