I am taking mirtazapine and it has helped me in sleep. Should I take venlafaxine as I am fumbling a lot in mock interviews due to low confidence? Or start it after my summer placements? My summer placements will happen in one or two weeks.

Dear Lybrate user, it must be hard going through anxiety and going through mock interviews. With regard to medication it's best if you consult a psychiatrist. But i'll also suggest that you go for psychological counselling/ therapy. Counselling will help you in managing your anxiety with certain techniques and strategies. Counselling can also help you in helping you increase your confidence levels. It can help you get to the root of your concerns and help you understand them. Especially cognitive behaviour therapy is proven and widely used to treat anxiety. It will be helpful for you in the long term. Once you have learnt to manage anxiety you can reduce your dependence on medications as well. Please consult a psychologist. You can contact me as well for help on Lybrate. All the best for your interview!

Hi, its unfortunate that you are going through all this. I hope you feel better after reading this. I cannot comment on the medication part but I can very confidently comment on all the other related aspects. Fumbling. Low confidence, insomnia, etc are all signs of stress and high anxiety. Taking proper counselling sessions can certainly help in this regard and will work on the root causes to eradicate these issues in the long run. Apart from psychotherapy, enunciation and breathing exercises will help you immensely. I would strongly suggest you to seek a counselling session and see the difference. You may contact me as well to see the change for yourself. Wish you success during your placements.
