I have 3 mm three stones in kidney and taken cystone for one month it's still painting on lower back what does it means.

3 mm stone has high possiblity of spontaneous extraction take a course of of antibiotics like tablet norflox twice daily and analgesic tablet voveron twice daily for five days and get a sonography repeated after 3 months.

Hi Mr. lybrate-user. 3 mm stones in kidney are considered very small stones. The size of stones vary depending on the imaging used. Non contrast ct scan is imaging of choice for renal stones. Pain at flanks is characteristic of renal stones. Stones of this size are likely to spontaneously pass with adequate fluid intake and routine activity. Do maintain regular activity. For stones at this age we advise metabolic work up which includes serum pth, vitamin d. 24 hour urine examination for urate, citrate, calcium, oxalate. Serum creatinine ofcourse. Take less salt, avoid carbonated soda. Take more water. Increase intake of seasonal fruits and vegetables. You can repeat usg kub at 3 weeks to see if stones persist or have passed out. Cystone can be stopped, as not much efficacy has been seen but still prescribed as a urine alkalinising agent.
