I had a miscarriage in february at 13 weeks, the gestation maturity was 7 weeks 5 days, although usg done in january at 7 weeks had shown heartbeat of 110bpm. I am pregnant again, the usg from a reputed centre at 7 weeks 3 days shows normal report and fetal heart rate of 164bpm. After 4 days I visited a gynecologist who checked at his chamber told me growth is 7 weeks 2 days and heart rate of 170bpm but the amplitude of heat beat was low and suggested hcg 5000 injection weekly and told me to keep fingers crossed. I am very much worried about this. What is happening here? I am currently having duphaston, aspirin, folic acid.

Hi lybrate-user having a miscarriage is a major stress factor. But that does not mean all pregnancies are at risk. A difference in growth of 2 weeks or more is considered abnormal, and cause for worry. Few days difference between your dates and ultrasound dates don?t mean anything. Stay positive, and all will be fine. Hcg injections are technically not necessary. Take care. Do fix appointment for more personal chat if you need further clarification.

The hcg helps to give support to the gestation. The gestation period is not the issue and at this early stage it is difficult to pinpoint a cause. Take the injections and avoid any heavy work and intercourse. That might help.

Your first pregnancy was abnormal sonologically with a low fetal heart rate of 110. But the present pregnancy seems to be normal with a sonological finding of 164-170 fetal herat and corresponding size of gestational sac. Other positive contributing factors sonologically are good trophoblastic reaction, regularity of the gestational sac. Instead a suchorionic hemorrhage is a bad sign. The amplitude of heart beat at 7 wks, not significant. Any way you are getting good treatment now.
