Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. It is better to get the urine tested for any bacterial infection. So get a routine and microscopic examination done. Plus let me know if you have any other symptoms like burning sensation and increased frequency plus any other symptoms? As regards which antibiotic/s to be taken that can decided only after urine examination plus knowing your symptoms and signs. It is also important to have well controlled blood glucose levels, otherwise urinary tract infection may not be easily controlled. Thanks.

Hi Mr. lybrate-user, thank you for reaching out to Lybrate. I understand that you got relief earlier with one medicine and it makes sense that it might solve your problem again. However, given your history of diabetes, I would suggest to visit a physician/nephrologist who would evaluate you for recurrent urine infection and assess any damage to kidneys due to diabetes (diabetic nephropathy) as both can be the cause for blood in urine (hematuria). Though it might seem like a lot of trouble going to a doctor and getting checked out but believe me that would be the best course of action. Earlier a problem is diagnosed, the better. Hoping I have been able to answer your question and wishing you a speedy recovery.

You need to get examined properly for the cause of blood in the urine. Kindly get it touch with a doctor who is doing Cystoscopy. also you might need an CT scan of abdomen for further evaluation.

Passing blood in urine is not something one must take lightly. Taking antibiotics won't cause it to go away. You need to be evaluated completely by a urologist, get imaging studies done and figure out a treatment plan. Hope this helps. Good luck.
