Hello sir. I am a mbbs doctor and I was a neet pg aspirant. During preparation phase I took stalopam plus for last 8 months. Now I want to quit the medication. How I go for it?

Hello Lybrate user it depends whether you are still symptomatic or asymptomatic. If you have been symptoms free for last months you can start tapering off under guidance of psychiatrist. Stalopam plus has (escitalopram and clonzaepam) so gradual tapering will help you.

Hello the minimum duration for which you should take the medicine is 6 months after you are symptom free. If you have taken the complete course then you should first taper off clonazapam take escitalopram 10 mg and clonazepam 0.25 mg for 1 week then just escitalopram 10 mg for next 1 week then escitalopram 5 mg for next week then stop.

Hi, it depends on your dose, if it is 20 mg you could reduce to 10 mg for a week and then take 10 mg on alternate days for another week and stop.

Dear Abhrajit, Stalopam plus contains escitalopram and clonazepam. Stop stalopam plus and take stalopam 10 mg for 2-3 weeks. If okay, take stalopam 5 mg for another 2-3 weeks and stop. Remember stopping clonazepam will be more difficult than stopping escitalopram. All the best in your PG
