The lower esophageal sphincter (les) is an elastic constriction between the esophagus and the stomach. This sphincter acts a barrier between the food-pipe and the stomach and prevents food from going back into the esophagus. If the les is not sufficiently tight, food from stomach enters back into esophagus. This causes acid reflux. Precaution: 1. Don't overeat. 2. Eat 1/4 less than what you can eat. Eating in small quantities more than once is better. 3.don't wear tight pants. 4. After taking food, keep your head high for about an hour. 5. Avoid a particular food that does not suit you.
