Alkaline phosphatase(alp) levels are increased in liver and bone disorders. If your other liver tests are normal - sgot, sgpt, ggt then you can be reasonably sure that increased alp is due to bone diseases. If your alp in increased due to liver disorder, then most likely cause is obstruction to bile which is produced by the liver and stored in gall bladder). Most likely causes of obst are either gall stones or some growth obstructing flow of bile. Please let me know your usg report and status of the rest of your liver function test blood report? with your ggt levels.
