Hello doctor. My age is 34. I got double line in pregnancy test 4 days ago. I am a patient of pcos (never missed period for that) and mild hypothyroidism (under control. No other blood tests are performed till now related to pregnancy. Local doctor advice me to take susten 200 daily e along with other prenatal vitamins till my first scan. Maam do I really need susten 200 at this very early stage?

Susten is given as a supportive measure as it is basically progesterone hormone. This is naturally also secreted by your ovary in order to support the pregnancy. She may have seen some risk factor and would have prescribed as a precautionary measure. There is no harm in taking susten.

Both pcod and hypothyroidism have an increased risk of miscarriage. Also as you are advanced age, starting susten as early as possible is imperative.
