My mother is suffering from throat irritation with lot of coughing and pain in throat. She was advised Allegra and some pain killers for a week but pain still exists all though reduced. Now the doctor has advised antibiotic Indclav 625 for 7 days (thrice a day). Please advise if I should take the antibiotic as I am a bit hesitant to start antibiotics but the doctor says there is infection in throat. What are the side effects of this antibiotic?

Try saline gargles. Avoid cold foods. Get cbc done to know if infection or not. Better avoid antibiotic as may cause resistance.
