Malaria is transmitted by the infective bite of anopheles mosquito. Typically, malaria produces fever, headache, vomiting and other flu-like symptoms. Complicated malaria may cause anemia, jaundice, fits, unconsciousness, cerebral fever etc.

For diagnosis of malaria there are two type tests available; one is rdk rapid diagnositc kit (less reliable); other one is peripheral smear of blood.

If it comes positive contact doctor for treatment, however, most of times it does not come positive because timing of test, therefore, get tested for malaria at time of peak of fever. Treatment depends on type and severity of malaria, and patient's condition.

How to protect ourselves from malaria/ dengue. Similar measures are used to protect ourselves from malaria/ dengue/ chikungunya.
Keep yourself protected from mosquito bites.
Children should not be allowed to play in shorts and half sleeved clothes
use mosquito bed nets/ repellents/ odomass/ kachuachhap etc. In home whichever available or you can afford.
Must: always have one anti-mosquito spray in house including kitchen/ bedroom in the starting of rainy season.
Must: there should not be any water collection in house/ nearby house including water cooler/ bottles/ buckets/ holes etc.
