Can I do the pregnancy test at home, because today 6th April 2016 is my period date and there is no period till now and can not see any sign of pregnancy also so should I check the pregnancy at home or go to the doctor for blood test, please advice.

You can check it at home with the Urine Pregnancy Test (UPT); you can get the pregnancy test kit from a nearby chemist shop. The procedure is mentioned on the kit itself and its very easy to do. One thing you need to take care of is that first morning sample of urine should be taken for this test. If the test is positive then go to the doctor and if its negative then wait for the menses for few more days and if the situation remains the same then repeat this test again. In case its again comes out negative then you should consult a doctor about this.

Hello Ms. Lybrate-user, if your periods had been regular earlier to this, you can take the test with morning sample tomorrow. You need not go for a blood test. Though blood test is more sensitive, it is expensive compared to urine test. All the very best. If you want to test today your urine sample should be atleast 4-5 hrs in the bladder. All the best.
