I am a diabetic patient for last 20 years, my age 50 Presently my reading below 200 after food I do regular exercise/no smoking/drinking habit Presently my medicine is Xilia trio 2 (morning 1tab after lunch 1 tab) I want to know about this medicine, some my sugar level increase /some time down. I do not have weakness/or any other problem.

Mr. Lybrate-user, if one has well controlled diabetes then fasting sugar should be closer to 100mg and pp should be 150 to 160 mg/100 ml and hba1c% <7. If you have maintained these readings consistently then diabetes is in control. With that one is able to prevent or postpone the long term complications of diabetes, which are very serious. You have not given all the details to give any suggestions. Plus there is no mention about fasting, pp sugar levels, hba1c%, dietary pattern and extent of daily exercise. Without these details it is difficult to give any suggestions. As regards the combination drug that you are taking, voglibose in that is supposed to be taken with the food. Glimepiride before food and metformin is ideally after food but can be taken earlier too. I prefer to give voglibose separately along with food.
