Hi doc! my daughter is 8 years. She scalp is full of dandruff. She washes her hairs with baby shampoo and apply coconut oil. In between I used selsun shampoo for dandruff which did work successfully but temporarily. Now after 6 months I can see dandruff in her hairs again. Kindly suggest a good shampoo/ oil for permanent relief.

Hi.dandruff is basically the superficial (outermost) layer of skin which sheds quickly rather than a period of 30 - 40 days. Mild dandruff can be treated with a gentle daily shampoo. Your daughter can use adult shampoo little diluted with water. Ask her to wash her hair daily. If it doesn’t work then apply medicated shampoo containing zinc, selenium sulphide and salicylic acid. You can apply tea tree oil which has anti fungal properties, add it to your shampoo. It will soothe the scalp. For more queries consult a trichologist.
