Hi I am a MBBS student. I have recently tested for HBS-ag test by CMIA in a pathology lab only to confirm if I have any hep b infection. It is for only safety. I had no contact with any hepb+ patient. I started to take hep b vaccine (1st dose on Nov 20 of 2015, 2nd on Dec 20 of 2015, booster is not taken yet). Now my lab result showed I am non reactive. But my HBS-ag level was =0.04 IU/ml, where it is written >= 0.05 is positive. I) so my question is if I am hep b nonreactive the why my blood has HBS-ag, it should ideally be zero right or it is due to vaccine antigen?

YOu need not worry and it is the cross reactivity of antigen and antibody which showed this and is normal and you take booster and then onward every 3 years or even yearly and relax . WHt worry as per the report also is negative as it is .04 and > 0.05 is positive as peer the lab
