How long does risdone mt 0.5 mg take to show its effect on treating schizophrenia in elderly? He was taking 1 tablet a day but after a week he was advised to take 2 tabs. Now it's been 10 days. I want to know when we can expect to see a change in him.

Hello Lybrate user, the medicine will take some time to treat the symptoms of the disease. But we should not discontinue the medicine without asking to psychiatrist. Hi lybrate-user, risdone mt 0.5 mg is sub-optimal dose even in geriatric population, to treat schizophrenia. The minimum effective dose is around 2 mg per day. So, please discuss with your psychiatrist to consider increasing dose of same.
