Two weeks ago, I took my cat to the veterinary hospital, and another cat on the next table was trying to get away and I got scratched in the process. I went to a reputable private hospital nearby to seek their opinion in order to be safe, and they recommended the rabies vaccine. They insisted that I take the immunoglobulin along with the vaccination. I repeatedly explained that I had received the vaccine twice before and that, to the best of my limited knowledge, immunoglobulin was only administered to those who had not before received the vaccine. But the doctor continued to dismiss me. Regardless, I took the immunoglobulin. I'm just curious if taking immunoglobulin after being vaccinated twice will affect the generation of rabies antibodies somehow. Thank you.

Immunoglobulin do effect generation of antibodies. And they are costly. But antibody formation takes time. Till then immunoglobulin are usually not much remaining so they do not affect it majorly. And you were right you didn't need immunoglobulin in your case.
