What's is an over-the-counter medication for balanoposthitis? I recently had whitish coloration all around the inner foreskin with several tiny red spots in the penis head and white dots in the edge between inner foreskin and outer foreskin. When I clean the area with medicated soap (ketoconazole soap) I can smell something weird but the area is relatively clean with lesser whitish deposits after the wash. How effective is fusidic acid cream? Should I use any other anti-fungal or anti-bacterial cream?

Balanoposthitis is the inflammation of the glans penis (head of the penis) and the foreskin. It can have various causes, including fungal or bacterial infections, poor hygiene, irritants, or underlying skin conditions. It's important to consult a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Fusidic acid cream is an antibiotic commonly used to treat bacterial skin infections, including certain types of balanoposthitis caused by bacteria. It's usually applied topically to the affected area. However, the effectiveness of fusidic acid cream depends on the specific cause of the inflammation. If your symptoms are due to a fungal infection, an antifungal cream or medication might be more appropriate. An antifungal medication like clotrimazole or miconazole might be recommended in such cases.
