I'm from india 40 years old I had unprotected vaginal and received oral sex one year ago I tested all std panel (total 19 test) at 6 month and 4 times I tested hiv, hbsag,hcv, all are negative but now i'm thinking about htlv because i'm suffering from muscle weakness uncontrolled bladder joint pain numbness in feet and leg I mean some symptoms of htlv from 1 month I read some articles but I can't find exactly htlv windows period for test so please tell me what is htlv windows period for test and how much chances to get htlv from one exposure.

There are two types of htlv tests: the htlv-i/ii antibody test and the htlv-i/ii nucleic acid test (nat). The htlv-i/ii antibody test is the most commonly used test and can detect the presence of htlv antibodies in the blood. The window period for this test is typically around four to eight weeks after exposure to the virus. However, in cases, it take longer for individual to produce enough antibodies for the test to detect. The htlv-i/ii nat/pcr test is a more sensitive test that can detect the genetic material of the virus in the blood. The window period for this test is shorter and can be as early as two weeks after exposure. The exact risk of transmission per sexual exposure is not clear, and varies depending on many factors such as the viral load of the infected partner, the type of sexual activity, and the use of barrier protection.
