Hello doctors, I am sad to be here asking this, but I hope I can get an answer from y?all, it would mean a lot to my brain health rn. I recently (80 days ago) had sex with a girl who was a sex worker, I had a condom on, not sure if it broke or not. But I got tested 14 days after and then again 41 days after, both were 4th generation and came back negative. Am I in need of a third test and if so when. I?m really worried, I haven?t had any symptoms tho, just stress?

General, the window period for most commonly used hiv tests is around 4-6 weeks, but it can take up to 3 months (or sometimes even longer in rare cases) for the antibodies to be detectable in the blood. Since you've already taken two tests, one at 14 days and another at 41 days, and they both came back negative, it's a positive sign. However, it's generally recommended to have a final test around the 3-month mark (90 days) to confirm the results and ensure accuracy. If you're feeling stressed and worried about your situation, it's always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional or a local sexual health clinic. They will be able to provide you with personalized advice based on your specific circumstances and help address your concerns.
