60 mg/kg/day means for a 75 kg person male 4500 mg which means 45 tablets of iron pills containing 100 mg of elemental iron a day. So I heard in article this is toxic dosage which is fatal. My friend (75 kg male) due to suicidal tendencies consumed 45tabs of iron morning, afternoon and night with 15tabs each time just before food. He suffered with vomiting n nausea. How did the overdosed iron wasn't toxic to him? Is that a Miracle?

Daily requirement of iron is 21 mg per day and not 60 mg/kg/day. Yes 4500 mg is an overdose, but body has got its own mechanisms to prevent itself from such situations. Iron absorption from the gut has got a threshold called t max. And dietary requirement and iron holding capacity of body are two different things. At times we give very high doses of iron injectably in severe anemia. The fact that the person vomited out after consuming so many pills of iron shows the mechanism of body to throw out the excess.
