Hi, I delivered a baby with vision assisted delivery on 11th nov and got episiotomy stitches. I was asked to use betadine over them. On 11th december after my post delivery checkup I was told wound wasn't healing properly down there and I was suggested genticyn 80 mg injection to be taken day and night after food for 7 days at home with the help of any nurse/doctor and was also given combiflam and augmentin 625 tablets day and night for 7 days. The nurse and another doctor is asking me to discontinue genticyn as antibiotic is already being taken in tablet form. Please advice if I should continue.

There is no requirement of two antibiotics simultaneously unless the infection is severe. For now you can discontinue gentisyn and after augmentin course is over you can get the wound reviewed. It is very important to keep the area clean and dry. Local application of antibiotic ointment will help in recovery.
