My father age 83 having trigeminal neuralgia. He is using tegrital 200 mg twice a day. He fractured hib one month before and now in recovering .he is often depends on dicloflex for motion issue. Any tablet available for long term use without much side effects. He is using walker and walk a very little distance.

For trigeminal neuralgia, tegrital (carbamazepine) is most effective drug. He is on very minimal dose, dose can be adjusted if required but some effects are possible like sedation, rashes and decreased sodium level. Most of the patients require long term treatment.
