Dear lybrate-user, motivational enhancement therapy for 12 weeks is helpful. It is a weekly therapy - can be done by anyone who has specialised in addiction treatment. Many clinical psychologist, social workers, alternate medical specialists, general practitioners, counsellors are trained by nimhans for 1 month in house training or in weekly virtual classrooms. They are given certificates. You can approach anyone with such certification. Checking on breathanalyser gives only the 1-2 hours of alcohol use. Mainly helpful for police persons to find out drunken driving. There are other blood and liver tests (ggt, sgot and sgpt ratio) which give an indication of longer use. They are for legal, diagnostic and research purposes. As a daughter, why do you do that for your dad. You are not going to police him. You are going to help him come out of his addiction. Please play that role. Start with improving his liver function so that he can eat well and digest his food.
