I've been diagnosed with migraines and I've had them for over 2 years. I have been on topamax and am now on verapamil. My migraines came back with burning sensations and I was referred to a neurologist which I am seeing now and whom put me on verapamil. Now my migraines are back and worse than before. I am vomiting and have dizziness and weakness. My eyes are constantly giving me issues once a migraine starts and I get very bad pain in base of my skull (in the back) and down my neck. Its every day now and nothing takes them away. Please help.

You have an option of trying other helpful medications for migraine. Consult your treating neurologist or any other headache specialist of your choice. I assume that your thyroid status has been worked out since you are on levothyroxine. At your age migraine is common especially in young females with stress. Migraine is a relapsing kind of headache. The treatment of migraine is mainly done for relief from acute headache attacks and later treatments to prevent future relapses. Treatment of factors like anxiety, strata, depression, vitamin deficiencies etc which tend to cause relapses is also important. There is no drug of choice or as such a best medicine for migraine. Treatment has to be individualised after taking into consideration patient factors and the history of migraine in the patient. For long term relief and prevention of relapses, consult a headache specialist an psychiatrist for a complete evaluation and treatment.
