It very common for children to snore/breathing noises during sleep. This is due to anatomical narrowing of the airway (laryngomalacia). This usually is seen since birth and may or may not continue till 5 years of age as the airway matures. Also this complaint usually disappears when the child is made to sleep on the side. You say that the baby is having difficulty in breathing --> does the baby wake up during sleep/ or there is increased respiratory rate. Its better to show the child to a Pediatrician first and then if the second opinion the doctor will be able to guide you after evaluating the child before referring.
