Sir, with all due respect control for fasting is less than 120 and for PP its less than 160mg/dl. The renal threshold for glucose for the human kidney is 180mg/dl which means that after the level of 180mg/dl is breached then sugar starts to appear in the urine. If you want to protect your kidney, Eyes and nerves- You will have to get better glucose values. Yes the numbness that you are experiencing in your feet can be diabetic neuropathy and needs to be treated with medicines. But as a rule there are also many vitamin deficiencies in senior age groups and that could also lead to numbness - particularly vitamin B12 Deficiency. So, I recommend that you get tested for Serum Vit B12 Levels and if they are below normal then start supplementation of the vitamin first.

Diabetes is considered to in good control when Fasting is closer to 100 mg, PP 160 to 180 mg and HbA1c%<7. Long standing diabetes even with good control does lead to peripheral neuropathy. Usual symptoms are numbness, tingling sensation and burning. Some times there may be a loss of sensation, which can cause problems like ulceration on toes or other injuries as pain is not felt. To prevent such an occurrence it better to use comfortable footwear at home and outside, observe your feet daily for any injury, wash and wipe them dry particularly in web areas. Keep blood glucose in good control. Plus if needed certain medications to control pain in the lower limbs may be used. Thanks.
