Hello doctor. My dad is a diabetic patient can he drink red wine? please suggest me.

Mr. lybrate-user, It always advisable to avoid alcohol in any form for a diabetic person. Even in small quantity, it is not good. However, if he insists on taking red wine, then a very small quantity can be taken. But according to my knowledge, alcohol should be avoided. Thanks.

Hi. Thanks for the query. There are no benefits of drinking wine. The specific nutrient benefit can be got from other healthy foods a s well. Remember you can end up with troubled blood sugar levels if not taken in the right amounts. Even if had it has to be planned into a diabetic diet. Will not advise random intake.
