Dear lybrate-user, it could me collected milk causing pain. Try expressing the milk manually. If you have redness, pain, pus coming from nipple and fever then please visit a surgeon. You might be having a breast pus collection.

Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help. For the severe pain in breast, I would advise you to connect with your OB/ GYN who can clinically evaluate and recommend treatment appropriately. Simultaneously, you may apply an alternating heat and cold treatment for couple of minutes that may alleviate pain. Also, do stay well hydrated, and keep your diet/ lifestyle streamlined. As regards stopping breast feed, contextually a pediatrician or a lactation consultant would be the right person to advise here appropriately. My only suggestion here would be to not abruptly stop breast feeding, and make the weaning process gradual.
