My child aged 13 years suffering with cold for the last one week. When contacted an ENT, he said that she need surgery due to sinusitis and advised CT scan? What can I do? Is it not curable without surgery?

Sinusitis can be treated with medicines very well be it allopathy or homeopathy. Surgery is advised only in very severe cases or when the patient has not responded very well to treatment. I suggest you to take a second opinion with your family physician and if you wish to take homeopathic treatment please get in touch with me. Until then give your child plain steam inhalation twice a day and sips of warm water to drink throughout the day. Avoid cold and sour food. Take care.

If it is a common cold, it usually gets clear on its own in 1 to 2 weeks. If it is recurrent then it may require further evaluation in the form of X ray post nasal space, nasal endoscopy and CT scan of nose and para nasal sinuses, depending on clinical diagnosis. Then only one can opine regarding surgery.
